Acceptance in Action — From Resistance to Awareness
After a day’s hard work in the earth and a heartfelt dinner with my Mexican family, I am sitting down to write. Outside the window of my third-floor room, tall trees hover with a comforting presence. On one of the trunks, a bulging knot forms the shape of an eye.
It gives the impression I am not alone. Something is here — always close and around, present and protecting.
Today, beneath a glowing sun, I cleaned and pulled weeds in the enclosure of our future flower garden.
As I worked, I shifted between states of presence and resistance. At times absorbed in the task, only to suddenly catch myself somewhere else.
Lost in thought, my mind wanders into various scenarios. Counting the minutes, longing for dinner, to be done to get away. It is an energy that wants to escape and for the experience to be over.
But I am alive, and I want to be alive. Because life is in every moment. With intention, I bring my attention back to the present, back to my body and the task at hand.
Only to again discover myself drifting away. Back and forth my attention goes — accepting where I am, present in one moment, escaping in the next
The Power of Choice: Living What We Have Chosen
My intention for this period is to integrate life’s lessons — to be present and aligned with my path, and to live in harmony in a non-reactive, meditative state.
It means accepting where I am and appreciating what is.
Surrendering into life, immersed in the moment.
Because this — what is here — I have chosen. I have asked for it, and I have been generously given. No one is forcing me to be here or there, except perhaps, a part of me.
We are always free to leave if there is somewhere else we’d rather be. Our lives are in our hands. There are always choices.
At times, it may feel as if there are no alternatives. But in truth, it is we who have locked the doors and looked away. And it is us — you and me — who hold the keys. We are the ones who can turn our heads and decide to see.
The Consequences of Choice
We decide the direction of our lives. In every moment, there is an intersection of possibilities, and what we choose determines where we end up next. Each decision brings us to a distinct situation with unique possibilities — and from there, new doorways appear.
Every choice affects various dimensions of our reality; what changes on the surface also makes waves in the depths.
For example, if I leave for my birthplace in Sweden, I would no longer be exposed to the inner and outer work here. But I would, in return, meet whatever challenges awaited me there.
At the same time — by consequence — I would lose everything that is here. Not only the challenges, but the family, heart, and spirit of this place as well.
Each path chosen means another left behind. As one door is opened, another one closes.
Being Here: Accepting What Is
And so, in the complete acceptance of being here — conscious that it is our personal choice — there is no benefit in wishing to be somewhere else.
Second-guessing ourselves when a decision has already been made only works against us, our current path, and the flow of life.
We’ve considered and weighed the pros and cons. We’ve felt into our gut, and we know what we want and what is best for us. The decision has been made — now the best we can do is to accept.
And when we accept, we give it our all — our presence and attention, our full effort and will.
Each Encounter is Sacred — Every Moment Unique
Life continuously unfolds in a divine dance. Each encounter is sacred as it has never been and will never be again. When we are in a state of surrender, we are immersed in the moment — allowing all things, ourselves included, to be what they are, beyond judgment, expectation, assumptions, or demands.
This is life in all its glory, and when present, we may appreciate it precisely as it is.
As we let go of preferences and opinions — many of which may not even be ours — the world reveals itself in novel ways, because we are open and curious.
And so, we are available to life, allowing the moment to be, and the next arrives in its due time. All things as they are.
With divine eyes, everything is innocent, and the perfect design unfolds in effortless flow.
Acceptance is not passive. It is one of the most powerful acts available to us — the conscious decision to be fully where we are, with what we have chosen, and to give it everything we have.
And in that full giving — life gives back.
This reflection is part of the Entering into Mastery series — to continue the exploration: Entering into Mastery: From Limitation to Conscious Co-Creation
This reflection stems from the journaling project that gave birth to EnterMastery.com. In September 2022, I committed to journaling every day for 30 days to disrupt unconscious patterns, expand my quality of life, and share the process openly. Over time, the project evolved into this blog and a deeper exploration of conscious self-development. The reflections within the “Entering into Mastery” series originate from those writings, though many have since been refined and expanded to offer greater clarity and value to the reader.
