The Power of Words and Personal Choice

A Personal Foreword and Small Introduction

The power of words and personal choice shape the reality we live in. Enabling us to direct our lives and live in flow. When we are aligned and assume responsibility for our actions, alternative realities and versions of ourselves have the potential to emerge.

What words we use, when and where, MATTERS. What I write and how I phrase myself in this introduction to The Transformational Power of Language will determine who gets involved and who drops off.

Every word has its distinct role and specific part in creating the whole. Each word is a steppingstone. Every sentence leads into the next.

For those who resonate, the words will ignite a spark of curiosity. And for those who are not aligned, just one word too many or one sentence too much will be the final drop which makes the water run over the cup.

In this account I am using personal examples as the foundation to deepen into the human experience. The intention is that it will relate to YOU who reads with the idea that “Everything is a metaphor for everything else.

Before we deepen further;

“How do you experience the power of words in your own life? Are there specific beliefs or phrases that shape your reality?”

“What if every word and sentence you speak today is part of creating the next version of yourself?

Sacred Equilibrium: Finding our personal way

Finding the Equilibrium in all things — in this case in the writing — is a precise art. And the only way to learn is by doing. Through practice. By trying, falling, rising, and adapting. By writing, reading, thinking, and listening. By receiving and being open to feedback in all of its forms. Spoken and unspoken. Conscious and unconscious. Written in bold or whispered in between the lines.

I put a lot of effort into this work. I write and reread. I revisit, restructure, take away and redo. I research definitions of words and concepts. I move sentences around and then return them again. I analyse and evaluate. I copy and paste and think and contemplate.

This is an excellent quality that I believe many of us writers, artist, and creative creators share. It is part of who we are and a superpower in itself. However, when overbalanced, it may turn into an obsessiveness that has us stuck in a rut and blocks the flow of creation.

With this notion I am feeling many times — and I don’t think I am alone? — that I do a lot with little to show for it.

And at times I ask myself, “Is this really necessary?” or “Am I wasting too much of my time?”

“Can you see yourself somehow in this?”

“Are there areas of your life that could use more care and attention to detail?”

“What areas of your life could benefit from a practice of deliberate reflection and conscious editing?”

Consistency and FaithGod shows the Way

Though on the other hand, I know that a lot that are not being seen by my human eyes. I know that there are deeper levels and unseen results of my work.

A striking metaphor is that of the iceberg: What we see above the surface is only 10% of the whole. The remaining 90% sustains the structure silently below.

Similarly, the great oak tree:  We look at it and think we understand, and yet it is tremendous what we do not perceive.

These images bring me faith and nourishes my path with conviction. They remind me that even when things seem slow, I am continuously advancing. The unseen work is steadily building momentum and I am constantly evolving.

Because the truth is that most of the work is internal and unseen. And what we see on the surface is only but a fraction. Spring arrives, and suddenly everything blooms. Though the fact is, this flourishing has quietly been developing beneath the surface for a long time.

Nothing is in vain. Everything is part of the whole and a step towards somewhere. The point is to keep moving. And suddenly, before we know it. We look around and realize that we have arrived.

The Power of Choice

Bringing it back to the power of words and personal choice. As I mentioned above, “This work takes a lot of me”.

And immediately — speaking about the power language — as I place these thoughts into writing —and pay my attention to them — I can see how they are phrased and what energy they contain.

With this awareness, aligned with my current intention, I choose to rephrase how and what I say and affirm that “I give a lot of myself to this”.

BECAUSE I DO CHOOSE TO. And the intention here is to place attention on what words we use in order to evolve our ability to speak and create. When we consciously choose phrases that serve our overall health and wealth, based on our intentions, the quality of our lives will surely rise.

With this we are conscious co-creators and active participants of our personal realities. With this we are aligning with the purpose of our lives.

“What would shift in your life if you consciously chose your words today?”

“How often do you use language that disempowers you? How might you start changing that?”

Writing as a Tool for Self-Awareness and Personal Choice

This is one of the various benefits of journaling. The reflections and increased self-awareness we receive when we place our inner dialogue onto paper is monumental. As we solidify thoughts into words, we see them in the light and are able to view both them and ourselves differently.

As such, the practice of writing leads to increased self-awareness in regard to how we speak to ourselves. With that we expand our capacity to use language consciously and we may use the power of words to our benefit instead of being used.

By paying attention to our thoughts, we become aware of them. And from this recognition we may question, feel, and contemplate. This creates a separation from our thoughts and emotions, expands our consciousness, and allows us to see novel perspectives.

Throughout this process we are continuously learning the effects our inner dialogue and way of thinking have on our emotional and physical state of being — which is always intrinsically connected.

With this curious mindset we begin to align our language with our desired outcome. This is where the real power of words come alive. When we are consciously choosing them with the awareness of what we aim to create.

From this space of personal responsibility we have the power to choose and make a real change.

Empowered or EnslavedThe Choice is Ours

Returning to the power of words and personal choice, the difference between the two phrases is striking. When I claim that something “takes from me,” I am positioning myself as a victim, implying that my decisions are out of my control. This creates inner conflict and dissonance. It’s in the similar frequency as “I have to,” “I must,” or “I should”—different sayings that places power outside of myself.

On the other hand, when I say, “I CHOOSE to give,” the shift is profound. Now, I am living from a place of conscious choice and free will. My energy aligns, and empowerment follows.

By choosing, I claim my personal power. I take responsibility for my life and stepping into my role as a conscious co-creator. I am not a victim of circumstance; I am an active participant in my own life.

“How do you experience the difference between ‘I have to’ and ‘I choose’ in your own life?”

“How often are your words in alignment and when do you speak against yourself?”

“What would it feel like to consciously choose your actions from a place of empowerment rather than obligation?”

This is The Power of Choice.

In the deep end and on some level. Consciously or unconsciously. It is always our choice. We always have the last say. And the best we can do is to admit it and take responsibility for our lives.

I HAVE TO walk my dog every morning and evening because it is REQUIRED of me because he NEEDS to move” (“But silently I rather sleep in and not being dragged out into the mud — i.e. I am internally resisting my external action.”)

… has a very different energetic charge than:

I CHOOSE to walk my dog every day because I LOVE her, and I know it makes her (and me) feel better. And when she is happy, I am happy, and it is my responsibility — part of the blessing — of having her in my life.”

The action might be the same, but our attitude and intention determines with what energy we carry out each task and live our lives. Thus the personal experience and the external results will be very distinct depending on our inner dialogue and personal alignement.

Am I comitted to my choice and aligned with conscuious intention?

Or do I do what I do because I have to? Because someone told or ordered me to?

Am I in conflict with my actions or am I living my life with willingness and coherence?

Because Let’s Stop Fooling Ourselves. Nobody is forcing us to do anything except ourselves. May it be conscious, subconscious, or unconscious. As far as I know; you, me, and each one of us are the ones who choose.

Our choice might be based on how we want to be seen by others and the basic need for acceptance. It may be connected to fear of being judged and the need to belong.

But in the end, it comes down to each and every one of us. We choose. We might not be conscious of why and how but when we are willing to see we will become aware of the fact.

And when we choose to choose, we reclaim our personal power and with that, the destiny of our lives.

Personal Choice and Assuming responsibility for my Life

And so. Returning to the point of working and sharing these very words. I don’t have to do this, that, or anything. I don’t have to sit down each day and write all these words.

But I am sitting here, sharing my current truth with all of my flaws with love in my heart, to the best of my ability. Because I chose to. Because I have the power to choose.

From this recognition there is a willingness to do the work. Creative energy aligns and flows in a unified direction. And by writing it down and sharing it here I reaffirm it and remember it once again.

I am continuously nourishing this attitude within myself. Because we are all facing distinct challenges and our personal versions of resistance. As such I have mine and you have yours. And the more we focus on creating what we want, the better off we are.

The more we remember this, the more we will practice it, and as such we embody and live it.

The power of creation aligns when I am aligned. Which happens through personal choice and taking responsibility for my life. When I am being consistent with my actions and coherent with my intentions. With an open heart and focused mind.

Remembering that these personal examples are metaphors for life and any situation we may find ourselves in. And the fundamental message is to recognize that YOU, Me, and ALL of us have the personal POWER to CHOOSE.

We are all the Captain of our own ship. We can follow directions and even place someone else behind the steering wheel. But we are still ultimately responsible. We are the ones in charge. If we admit it or not. And if we want to be sure of our direction, we better place ourselves behind the rudder.

CONCLUSION: Living the Power of Words and Personal Choice

The power of words shapes our reality in ways we often don’t recognize. The language we choose influences our decisions, actions, and ultimately, our lives.

The HOW is the CLUEThe WHY is the CAUSE

In every moment, we face choices—sometimes difficult ones. But no matter the challenge, there is always more than one path. The real question is not just what choice we make, but from where we make it.

How we live our lives, which stems from a deeper WHY, ultimately defines our reality. It’s not just about the actions we take, but the energy and intention behind them.

From our cultural conditioning and limiting beliefs it may seem like we do not have choice. Because we believe that we should, must, or need to. Which is based on social norms of what is accepted or frowned upon.

We have been taught how and what to think within a framework of set rules and regulations. We have been conditioned to conform and follow the flock without the consciousness of what this actually entails. Without the knowledge of the vast world outside the fences of our green grass field.

But when we allow ourselves to raise our sight above and beyond, new perspectives and novel solutions suddenly arise.

When we dare to assume responsibility for our lives. That our decisions, actions, words, and lives are ours to steer and direct. New realities and alternative versions of ourselves may emerge and come to be.

The main point being that it is not about WHAT we do (the action itself) but HOW and WHY we do it. From what energetic place and space within ourselves.

The narrative of our inner dialogue may bring us into alignment with or in conflict against our actions.

It is always within our grasp to choose what way to go and with what attitude we approach life and challenges. We can choose to live with willingness and generosity. In love and harmony. Or we can struggle through life in a constant battle in a state of resistance.

From my personal account I can honestly say that various layers of the inner conflict remain. But steadily and deliberately I am making peace within myself and learning to align with life. And a grand part of that work is to remind myself and expand my awareness through the practice of writing and sharing this inner work here.

Every day I remember because every day I remind myself.

Every day the house is built. Every day the temple is cleaned. Each day I affirm myself.

Consistency is Key and Faith Guides me Forth

And as such I have faith that these words will reach whoever they are meant to reach. Whoever seeks and is open to receive they will meet. And if you are reading these words, they are for you. And I invite you to be open and read between the lines. In this way you may receive what is specifically for you. Because we are all unique.

Remembering that “Everything a Metaphor for Everything Else”.

And I trust that as I keep my faith and continue my path with conviction and devotion, the consistency of my actions will connect the dots and reveal a greater story.

And this grander piece will come to life, not by sporadic whims of writing in the sunshine, but by sitting down each day with faith, dedication, direction and devotion.

“With Consistency and Faith God shows the Way and Time Will Tell.”
