The Paradox of Repetition: Part 2 of Way & Form: Revisit to Remember
“It becomes a practice of consciously revisiting instead of unconsciously repeating…”
Through this ongoing process I am discovering the “Paradox of Repetition”. That I need to Repeat in order to NOT Repeat.
That in order to STOP. And not continuing doing what doesn’t serve and benefit me – The Totality of What I am – My Personal Wellbeing – I need to persistently repeat what does serve and nourish me à What I want from and with this Life.
Fighting what does not benefit me doesn’t serve. Because in the fighting, by me giving it attention, I am only adding fuel to the fire that is already burning me.
Attention being “allocation of energy”. And energy being the core force of life that is the foundation of creation.
Like throwing a tennis ball on a stonewall. The harder I throw; with the higher velocity it returns. And with the more force it comes, with more anger I react and the stronger I throw it back. And so it continues, with increased force it retracts. Until the pressure of the effectual force becomes too strong and there is no other way than to lay down my sword.
Thus, rather it is about “turning the other cheek”. By consciously choosing where I direct my attention and place the logs of my thinking, by default I am not giving fuel to what works against me, and thus that steadily fades.
What I feed grows. What I don’t dies.
What to Do? Where to Move?
I cannot, it seems, simply do “nothing” because something is always done. Something is always moving in one direction or the other. Things are either growing and gaining life, or fading and disappearing.
Or perhaps that is exactly the Key that I need? To simply step out of the game of cause and effect and breathe? And maybe from a distance I will be able to see? And instead of being in the constant effort of trying, I might enter a space of allowing?
Not moving directly from one relation to the other but allowing for the distance and pause to bring light. And from there, with calmness and peace. From a space of non-reaction, with new-gained clarity, I focus on and repeat what I want in order to direct my attention and creational power.
And the more I am able to direct my attention, the more is placed towards what I want and chose, and the less is wasted towards what I do not. It becomes a process of reprogramming my subconscious mind. Pause, distance, observe, adjust. Pause, listen, feel, direct.
Until I reach a point where the impulse to react and fight has disappeared. Because I am simply too inspired and occupied to honour what brings me joy and happiness, peace and freedom, autonomy and abundance, love and happiness.
And so, throughout this process and each day, steadily I am making peace with myself. Forgiving and releasing from the inner conflict within.
“Instead of continuously treading at the same spot, digging myself deeper into the unbeneficial quicksand of what does not serve; By the transformational power of intention, in each moment I have the potential to take the internal steps, which by me consciously honouring where I am, the new me may come to be.”
And as I take physical steps ahead, into the exterior, through embodied action and behaviour, what is behind will be left behind.
The Record is always Playing
“The radio is always turned on”, “The channel is always open” “A record is constantly playing”, and “My subconscious mind listens and receives”.
And either I chose the channel and song, or I allow myself to be the receiver of whatever is playing.
If I chose what plays, what I do not chose will not play, because the record is already spinning, and the space – the field of potentiality – is filled with the frequency and vibration of what is. In this case by conscious choice.
Consequently and vice versa, if I do not choose what plays, “something” will be playing. And that “something” is not by my conscious and deliberate choosing.
In this case the record of my unconscious will play by autopilot. And the space of potentiality where the new could arrive is filled with the chatter and noise of what is already playing.
Because something is always playing. The universe is always moving. Life is constantly in constant transformation. Things are always changing in one direction or the other.
And here I am, trying to figure out my way in the vastness of The All.
The power of conscious choice
Thus, if I do not choose, the choosing will be done for me. And by default, if I am being passive and inattentive, I participate in and add to that which is played on autopilot, as I subconsciously repeat it by default.
Thus, either I chose my direction and what plays, or I am being played, at the mercy of circumstance.
And as I repeat the new, what was unknown – through repetition – it becomes the current and known. And what was the known fades. It becomes the forgotten, is replaced, and returns to the unknown.
The new record replaces the old. The circle of life continues and unfolds.
What do I want then? Where to place my attention?
Deliberate and directed attention, being one part of the puzzle. Beneath this lays the “knowing of what I want”. The great “Why”. As well as, importantly, “Who is this I, this energy, or part of me, that want that?”.
Which is a deep inquiry into myself, explored and discovered through the experience of life. Of wanting and daring to know. Because if the answer truly arrives, it means I need to approach it and it will come closer to me.
Which may involve all kinds of complications. Like stepping up my game and making an effort beyond what I currently am. It may entail encountering my fears, and acknowledging that I might have been wrong about many things, perhaps everything. And with that owning up to my so-called “mistakes” of the past.
Assuming Personal Responsibility and owning the possibility that it was I who created this whole mess in the first place, simply by not listening and trusting.
Which comes with the liberation of that if it was I who created it, it is I who has the power to uncreate it.
Food for Thought:
Entertain with your mind what you want in your life and see it bloom into light.
Do not waste your time and energy fighting the outdated and old. Simply walk towards the gold.
Do not fight the “bad” because that is what it wants, that is how it grows, that is how it feeds, that is how it sustains itself. Without anyone to fight, by default it fades away.
And as they say in the world of marketing; “Any Attention is Good Attention.” à Because attention brings the force of life. For “good” and for “bad”. Like water to the plant, attention being the water which nourishes both the rose as well as the weeds.
